Xbox LIVE Gets Stung by Hackers

Numerous Xbox LIVE accounts have found themselves hacked this past week, with FIFA 12 credits collated by the user being spent by the hackers.Using the accounts hackers have been buying FIFA Ultimate Team packs, going as far as accessing users credit card details to purchase the FIFA credits.User 'Speedjack' found that his payment details were used yesterday and the credits "all spent on FIFA 12 content packs yesterday afternoon while I was at work." Microsoft have been quick to respond by freezing a number of gamertags whilst an investigation sources the root of the problem.

Not really the usual sort of thing we here at Console Monster report on, but a Florida family found themselves a little surprised after a hacker got into the familys Xbox 360 console while signed in online, placed a 911 prank phone call informing the authorities that someones had broken into said victims house, stabbed one of the residents and was holding the remaining family members hostage.“I come out of my room and they’ve got their guns pointed at me and stuff,” said Hunter Gelinas, who owns the hacked Xbox.

Sega Europe has today revealed that "unauthorised entry was gained to the SEGA Pass system and 1,290,755 customers' information including SEGA Pass members name, email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were obtained." In an interview with CVG Sega went on to say that they will "further strengthen our network security as a priority issue and strive to prevent any potential recurrence".
