Sony has confirmed that Until Dawn 2 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 28 January 2027. The announcement came via the official PlayStation Blog alongside details on pre-orders beginning on 10 September.
Developed by Firesprite Games in collaboration with AdHoc Studio, the sequel continues the story of the Dead True group as they navigate supernatural threats on a mysterious South Pacific island. The game emphasises player choice, with every decision impacting the fate of the characters throughout the narrative.
New Story Elements and Characters Highlighted
The latest trailer introduces key characters such as Izzy, the team’s intern, and Yoona, a survivor bearing a necrotic scar. The plot involves investigating Blackwood Sanitorium and a luxury resort abandoned since the 1970s. Players will manage tense situations, including a network demand for a live ritual sacrifice, requiring choices that affect the story’s progression and outcomes.
Dead True’s cast includes returning and new members such as Owen, Mina, and Nate, each facing moral and survival dilemmas. The narrative is crafted to deliver branching outcomes heavily influenced by player actions, involving dramatic interactions and multiple possible deaths.
Pre-Order Bonuses and Digital Deluxe Edition Details
Pre-orders for Until Dawn 2 open on 10 September, offering standard and Digital Deluxe Editions. Both editions feature exclusive content centred on the character Dr. Hill, who returns to the sequel. This includes classic and holiday-themed outfits and in-game collector’s bobbleheads.
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds further cosmetic content with the Y2K Neon Vibes Pack, allowing players to dress all eight main characters in neon-themed costumes. It also includes the Diorama of Death, a collection of vignettes portraying key fatal sequences from different perspectives. This offers players an opportunity to explore every grim outcome unlocked through gameplay.
The game’s focus on choice-driven horror, combined with the explicit return of familiar characters and settings, positions Until Dawn 2 as a continuation of the series’ narrative approach. With its release set for early 2027, it remains exclusive to PlayStation 5, with no confirmation of other platform availability.
