EA have revealed the first next-gen Simpsons game. The Simpsons, as it’s tentively called right now, is described as an “action-comedy” in which the popular cartoon family quickly realise they are trapped within a video game so they give themselves “exciting, all-new powers to save the world from rising chaos.”
The Voice actors from the TV series will be reprising their roles in the video game. The plot hasn’t been revealed, although it won’t be similar to the forthcoming Simpsons Movie. We do know that the game will take us around Springfield and “vast worlds beyond”.
The game itself will parody many popular (and not so popular) video games including NeverQuest (EverQuest), Medal of Homer (Medal of Honor), Bartman Begins (Batman Begins) and Grand Theft Scratchy (Grand Theft Auto). You’ll also play some of the game as Homer the Blob where you’ll become a big ball and go around destroying things, not unlike the Katamari games.
The Simpsons is due out towards the end of 2007 on 360, PS3 and Wii as well as PS2, PSP and DS.
