BBC iPlayer now available on Xbox 360; more features announced

The likes of Eastenders, The Apprentice and Dragons’ Den are now available to watch on the Xbox 360 now that the BBC iPlayer app has been released.

The service allows users to watch BBC content on their consoles. To install it, “just turn on your Xbox 360 and ensure you are signed into Xbox Live (Free or Gold accounts). BBC iPlayer can be found in the Video section of the App Marketplace. Select BBC iPlayer and follow the onscreen instructions. Once installed, The BBC iPlayer App can be found in the Video category of My Apps,” an FAQ on the BBC website reads.

The app also feature Kinect compatibility, including motion gestures and voice commands, though there is no volume control, BBC ID or option to programme resume. However, the latter of the three is to “become a feature in a future update.

Furthermore, the BBC revealed that there is “demand for BBC radio programmes and [they] will be making radio available in BBC iPlayer on Xbox 360 later in the year.
