Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 release date brought forward

The release date of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has been brought forward, EA has announced.

Having originally been penned for a spring release, the third-person shooter will now launch on Thursday, February 25th, 2016, replacing the delayed Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.

Justin Wiebe, the game’s creative director, said: “At PopCap, we love to excite our fans, and couldn’t be more ready and thrilled to bring Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 into their hands earlier than expected.

“From the immersive worlds and the crazy characters, to the new ways to play such as Backyard Battleground, we’re incredibly proud of the game we’re building.

“This is a crazy shooter filled with fan-requested features as well as all-new experiences that will make this unlike any other game in the genre.”

Players who pre-order Garden Warfare 2 will also receive immediate access to the Grass Effect Z7-Mech, a Mass Effect-inspired Zombie mech that features the ability to pull enemies closer to you, as well as 14 emojis that players can use to customise their characters.
