The month of April comes to an end so it’s time for our regular Monster Month in Gaming. Today a few of the Console Monster Crew report on what they have been playing over the past month, as well as an insight in the games they are looking forward to playing next month. Enjoy!

April was a lot more productive than I imagined, and I played many movie based games. I took part in a GamerScore Challenge, earning over 900 GamerScore on The Golden Compass and Lord of the Rings Conquest.
Then I had the honour of reviewing Monsters vs. Aliens, another movie based title before having a dosage of Xbox LIVE Arcade goodness with Flock and Lode Runner, both of which I reviewed. As for next month, well, it’s exam season and unfortunately it means my gaming is reduced to very little. However, once they are over, I will return possibly playing Velvet Assassin, Bionic Commando and Virtua Tennis 2009. |

Wow. Is that April over with already? It doesn’t seem like that long ago we were concocting up an April fools for you lovely readers. Well in this ‘whiz by’ month I haven’t played any Halo 3, believe it or not, but instead found myself playing the Rafael Benitez role in the Ultimate Team for FIFA 09. I can’t stop splashing MS points on gold packs to build up my team. It reminds me of when I was younger collecting football stickers for my sticker book.
I have also had the time to become the Don of my own family in the Godfather II. It’s a really fun game and I recommend that you rent this for a weeks worth of fun. Grab a cigar (if you’re legal to) and read my review here! |

This month started off slow with some more idle roleplaying on The Last Remnant, I finally put my war boots back on and went back to France in COD2 to finish it on veteran, a task long in the doing.
Receiving Afro Samurai to review, I swiftly got on with chopping up my foes before going back to some classic COD 2,3,4 and 5 Multiplayer action, along with the odd hint of Halo 3. Nearing the end of the month, it was time to review WWE Legends of WrestleMania, which turned out to be a bit of a snake in the grass, as I really enjoyed it. Having obtained a nice treasure trove of MS Points, and spending them on the Halo and COD5 map packs, I shall probably see the month out with an online frag fest. |

With nothing new coming out that I fancy I have been replaying some older titles. Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty 2 being top of the list. I’ve also had more time to stat boost my army in Last Remnant and tried out Championship mode in Street Fighter 4.
There have been some fantastic Battle of the Sex’s nights over on the official Xbox forums, girls took a Call of Duty 4 victory and it was a lot of fun! If you are looking for a great arcade game to check out, then I totally recommend Outrun. While I have not delved too much into the single player, the online is fantastic with some mates. I love power sliding all over the place! |

This month has, yet again, been another DS month. I’ve barely had any time to get onto my Xbox but when I have been on it’s mainly comprised of Bionic Commando Rearmed and Puzzle Quest games. Obviously, Left 4 Dead has seen the light and near the start of the year I bought the original Max Payne, which has an absolutely superb story.
Other than that, for the PC, I took advantage of The Orange Box Steam Sale Weekend and picked it up for cheap. I’ve been playing that alongside Civilisation 4 when I have time. For travelling, my DS has done the rounds mainly with the insanely addictive Henry Hatsworth and I recently became more addicted to Rhythm Tengoku Gold. I also bought Word Fu for my iPod Touch and have been addicted to that too. |

This month has been quite a blur, fear not though; gaming has been had in the springing month of April. This month I’ve been revisiting the circuits of quite a few racers. Early this month I kicked off with Forza 2, chipping away at the remaining challenges, it strange seeing my LIVE friend’s scores set in 2007, it just shows how behind the times I am in that game!
After recently receiving a Logitech GT Pro wheel for review, I had to go out and finally buy Race Driver: GRID (on PS3) to accompany it – GRID is pure awesomeness with the wheel, every race has been an adrenalin fuelled thrill, and I much prefer it over Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which now bores me to death! Another month goes by without much interest in the network titles. I’ve gone back to PixelJunk Eden and fully completed the first few gardens, it’s always good to return from a busy working day and chill-out with that game. The rest of my gaming has been taken up in an area not really common for me – portable gaming, which is ironic seeing as I am a mobile developer. I’ve had Flight Control on the iPhone since it first hit the top spot in the charts and I have always found the time to have a quick game, today I got my best score so far of 85, which isn’t that great once you see the online leaderboard, with scores of over 1400! |
So what have YOU been playing this past month, let us know your gaming antics in the comments below! Until next month, happy gaming to all our fellow Monsters!
