THQ announced today that their upcoming game based on the 80’s cult-classic cartoon franchise Voltron: Defender of the Universeis coming to Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network this October. While based on the original cartoon, the game is part of slew of Voltron-related content, includinga new animated series, Voltron Force,in the US.
Developed by Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slimestudio Behavior Interactive, the new Voltron looks to be an old-school shooter, allowing for up to five-player online co-op. Players take control of the five robot lions and, on occasion, the completed Voltron robot… No word yet on how five people will control one robot, though.
THQ is expected to release more information about the game at San Diego Comic-Con later this week. For now, enjoy a trailer and stay tuned.
