Ubisoft reveal James Cameron’s Avatar

Ubisoft’s E3 conference kicked off with the announcement of a new movie-based game, but not just any old movie-based game. Oh no, James Cameron’s Avatar is both a game and movie designed by James Cameron, who produced the idea fourteen years ago. Production of both the game and the film began four years ago.

James Cameron described the experience as “like dreaming with your eyes right open.” Cameron showed off his gaming knowledge by claiming that movie-licensed titles “kinda sucked” though this doesn’t seem to be the case with this title.

The film is set to release on the 18th December with the game releasing beforehand. Cameron said that the game “doesn’t contain any spoilers” which allows Ubisoft “to put it on the streets before the film comes out.”

Ubisoft also revealed they have made deals with directors: Peter Jackson (previously worked on King Kong) and Steven Spielberg (previously worked on Boom Blox) to bring new titles to the game.
