Sony has announced the arrival of the new slim PS3, which will launch on September 1st worldwide.
Kaz Hirai informed the audience at the Gamescom press conference that it’ll retail for 299 Euros and $299 (since when were dollar and Euros on a 1:1 parity?) or 29,980 yen in Japan.
Update: It’ll cost £249.99 in the UK and the new price will stand from tomorrow on current models as well.
The new PS3 includes a 120GB hard drive, up from the 80GB models currently and is 32 per cent smallers, 36 per cent lighter and consumes 34 per cent less power. That is a fair few percents!
It won’t have an official name, like PS3 Slimline or anything and will still be reffered to as PS3. Asda earlier today started selling consoles at knock-down prices after discontinuing them.
We’ll have more news and images as we get them, but tell us below if you’ll be enticed to buy one?
