PS3 Price Drop Won’t Make a Difference – Konami

After yesterday’s news that Sony will be dropping the price of the PS3 in the US to $499, Konami’s head of North American and European operations, Kazumi Kitaue, has told the Reuters news agency that he doesn’t expect a “substantial impact” in regards to sales. “With $500, you can buy a personal computer” continued Kitaue.

And that could be great news for Xbox 360 owners as Kitaue hinted that Metal Gear Solid 4, a game that has long been rumoured to be coming to Xbox 360, could no longer be a PS3 exclusive.
“Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps.” said Kitaue.

It seems that saga that is Metal Gear 4 on 360 will run for a long time yet. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is currently due for release on PS3 before the end of this financial year in March 2008.
