Just 3 days ago, Microsoft declared that it will “own football” for the next 12 months. However, it seems that may not actually be the case. Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, the producer of the Pro Evolution Soccer series told 1UP.com that “the presentation was misleading”
“We never said exclusive for one year on the next-gen platforms. We said this year. We were agreed that it was this year.”
Microsoft’s bold statement seems to have caused Konami some issues and Takatsuka wishes to set the record straight. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will indeed be exclusive to Xbox 360, until the end of 2006 only. The PS3 version is still in development, but will not be released until Q1 2007 at the earliest due to the requirement for extra development time (not because of any Microsoft-Konami exclusivity deal).
EA have yet to make on official comment on the matter. Some PS3 sites within Germany are claiming that EA have already announced that FIFA 08 is already in development for the PS3 and FIFA 07 was skipped merely because they didn’t have the development kits in time to produce and release the game within a reasonable time period.
