N’Gai Croal announces his departure from journalism

After 13 years of writing about video games, as well as technology, for Newsweek, it is time to bid farewell to a man who I look up to. N’Gai Croal announced in an interview with Gamasutra’s Leigh Alexander that he was to leave Newsweek and his ever popular gaming blog there, Level Up, to persue a career in creative consulting for game developers.

But he isn’t disappearing entirely. His monthly column in EDGE magazine will still be there and his soon-to-go-live website ngaicroal.com will be launched some time soon.

His opinions are some to be argued with, some even sparking controversy, but his reach is wide spreading and his influence is one to envy. These opinions which used to frequent the pages of EDGE and on Level Up, that were also widely quoted across the internet, will hopefully be put to good use in advising games developers on the directions they should take with their games.

As someone who has worked with N’Gai and enjoyed many of his articles, it is sad to see such a great writer take a step down. We wish him all the best.
