A new map pack for Battle for Middle Earth II has hit the marketplace. The new map pack has rather unexpectedly hit the XBLM, with no word from EA that any packs were being released. Even so it will be a welcome addition to the new Lord of the Rings RTS title.
The download will set you back 700mp’s and you get 3 maps; The first is Weathertop which overlooks the Great East Road east of Bree, about midway between the Shire and Rivendell. The hill rises a thousand feet above the level lands round about, and was the site of a watchtower in the days of Arnor. It was the setting of the battle between Strider and the nine Nazgul in the ‘Fellowship of the Ring‘.
The next map is Argonathalso known as The Gates of Argonath or The Pillars of the Kings, is a fictional monument comprising of two enormous pillars, carved in the likenesses of Isildur and Anárion. You can see these beautiful structures before the final Uruk-Hai scene in the ‘Fellowhip of the Ring‘
The final map is Umbar The great cape and land-locked firth of Umbar south of the Bay of Belfalas formed a natural harbour of enclosing rock, but the “great fortress of Númenor”(LR) that was located within it was not built until 2280 S.A. It was only by this time that Sauron had dared to threaten Númenor;
700mp’s is pretty steep, but if the maps are vast and can accomodate for 4 way battles then it will definetly be worth the full amount.
