For Playstation 3 owners the upcoming Mortal Kombat game may be on your ‘to buy’ list. Not only will you get the chance to wreak havoc with such classic characters as Raiden, Sub-Zero and the infamous Skorpion, but you will also get the chance to play as the legendary Kratos from the God of War games.
Sadly the news is not so good for Xbox 360 fans that will not be getting the chance to play as an exclusive character from any number of Xbox gaming franchises. The biggest question we’re asking is simply, why?
Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat said, “Unfortunately, the circumstances didn’t allow us to make a 360 exclusive,” when interviewed byEurogamer.
Ed went on to say “I’m not allowed to talk too much about it, but I can tell you we certainly wanted to do an exclusive for 360, but that’s all I can say. It was not a decision we made where we said, oh, let’s not do one for the 360.”
Although Ed didn’t reveal exactly which characters he would have liked to use, there were rumors of a possible Master Chief or Marcus Fenix incarnation for the new game.
Mr Boon finished off commenting on characters that were discussed, saying, “Anybody who’s really knowledgeable about the Xbox video games, the big titles, names like Master Chief from Halo, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, and any other Xbox exclusive title, is going to come up in a conversation in talking about it. So clearly we’ve discussed it.
“But, like I said, it wasn’t something we decided, no, we don’t want to make a 360 version of a character.”
Sadly for Xbox fans this will never be a reality, crushingly you’ll have to make do with characters of old in the newest addition in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
