Microsoft has launched the Xbox Nano Controller today, a smaller, pocket-sized gamepad designed to work with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, Android, iOS devices, smart TVs, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The controller is priced at $49.99 and available through Microsoft and several third-party retailers.
The Nano Controller measures slightly over five inches and weighs approximately 99 grams, positioning it as a highly portable alternative to standard Xbox controllers. It targets gamers seeking a compact option, particularly those with smaller hands or those wanting an easily transportable device for cloud and mobile gaming.
Features and Compatibility of the Xbox Nano Controller
Despite its reduced size, the Xbox Nano Controller retains a traditional button layout and shape similar to larger Xbox controllers. Its design emphasises ergonomics for smaller hands and physical portability, allowing it to fit comfortably in jacket pockets or bags without additional cases.
The controller supports Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, making it compatible with a wide range of devices across ecosystems. It includes a built-in rechargeable battery and an Action Button intended for screenshots, gameplay recording, and other in-game shortcuts. Unlike some other Xbox controllers, the Nano does not feature rumble feedback.
Availability and Pricing Details
The Xbox Nano Controller is priced at $49.99 and is available at retailers such as Antonline, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and directly through the Xbox Store. The controller’s launch date is 4 November 2026, following an official announcement by Microsoft in October.
While the controller offers a fresh form factor that complements the rise of cloud gaming, some players may find the price high for a gamepad lacking more advanced features like Hall Effect or TMR thumbsticks. Initial hands-on impressions by Windows Central’s Jez Corden have been generally positive, with a full review forthcoming.
Microsoft’s introduction of the Xbox Nano Controller expands the options for players who want a lightweight and compact gamepad, particularly for on-the-go Xbox Cloud Gaming or mobile play. The product supports the continued push of Xbox’s ecosystem across devices, from consoles to smartphones and smart TVs.
