Microsoft Declares Victory In US

Microsoft boastfully declares its dominance of the North American console market and announces ambition to increase its lead in the European sector. Could this mean more freebies? I hope so!

VP of interactive entertainment at Microsoft, Chris Lewis stated that the company “done the job [they] need to in North America” and that more focus and pressure would be applied to the European market where the PS3 is enjoying more success in the console war.

Speaking more in depth of Europe, Lewis went on, “It’s a very textured region, you’ve got places like the UK and the Nordic countries…where we’ve been able to apply our more North American approach to those markets with genuine success“, while conceding that in warmer climes, the success of the Xbox 360 has been more muted, “In the sunnier parts of Europe we did have relatively less success“.

With the eye of the omnipresent and seemingly omnipotent beast that is Microsoft turning towards Europe, could we see more goodies and the ability to access all of the potential features on LIVE? Or will the cream of the marketplace continue to be skimmed off for North American gamers while we in Europe receive what gets washed up on our cyber-shores?
