Viacom have today announced plans to sell Harmonix, the company behind Rock Band and Kinect’s Dance Central. There were no specifics into why they want to sell off Harmonix, although popular guesses fall with the decline of sales in rhythm based games.

Whilst no names have been mentioned yet on potential purchasers, first guess would go with EA who are currently part of a publishing deal with the developers. One can only imagine the implications for instrument rhythm based games if Activision, already owning the Guitar Hero franchise, made the purchase.
