Halo 3 Could Cause GTA IV Delay

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has stated that Take-Two could be prepared to push the release date of Grand Theft Auto IV back to ensure it doesn’t clash with another big title, Halo 3. Currently, Halo 3 is due out on September 26th with GTA IV launches a few weeks later on October 19th.

“We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games.” Pachter said.

Pachter said that pushing GTA IV back two weeks would put in the game in Take-Two’s 2008 Fiscal Year and the publisher would effectively “throw in the towel” on their 2007 Fiscal Year.

Another suggestion made was that Take-Two could release the GTA IV Limited Edition on October 19th while releasing the standard edition two weeks later, although this would likely anger gamers who do not wish to splash out on the Limited Edition.
