Guitar Hero 5 ready for September launch

Activision has today confirmed that Guitar Hero 5 will be released on the 1st September, ahead of the release of Beatles: Rock Band on the 11th.

The new Guitar Hero 5 website has the launch date plastered over it as well as the chance to win a sweepstake for some concert tickets. The catch; you’ll need to guess the full line-up for the game. Tricky stuff.

Bands confirmed so far from initial press releases include The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Duran Duran, Gorillaz, Jimmy Eat World, Muse and The Raconteurs.

As announced we also know that you can use any combination of instruments and have the ability to join in mid-song. Good news for those with DLC from World Tour, as this will be cross compatible and even patched with support for the upgrades and enhancements for number 5.

We’ll have more news from the show floor at E3.
