Last Friday, we told you about EA’s plans to release a new game in the Battlefield franchise on Xbox 360. Well, today, EA and DICE have revealed the first details about Battlefield: Bad Company.
First is the new single-player storyline which sounds very similar to the 1999 movie Three Kings. Said to be “deep, cinematic” and full of dark humour, the story sees players dropped behind emeny lines as part of a renegade squad on a quest to find gold and enact revenge.
Almost all the environments in the game are fully destructible thanks to DICE’s new Frostbite game engine. DICE producer Karl Magnus Troedsson said:
“The heart of DICE’s multiplayer games is the frenetic, unpredictable nature of the sandbox experience, where anything could happen at any moment, and that’s what we’re bringing to the core of Battlefield: Bad Company’s single-player campaign.
“In a world that’s 90 percent destructible, the gameplay possibilities are infinite – the battlefield is always changing, forcing players, team-mates, and enemies to react accordingly. Gamers will have total freedom to adapt to and tackle challenges in creative Battlefield-style ways.”
EA is also promising that the multiplayer component of past Battlefiled titles, that made the series so popular in the first place, will return.
