EA drop Taliban name from Medal of Honor

There has been much debate recently regarding the decision to include the Taliban name in the new Medal of Honor as a playable side. It has turned out that EA have given up trying to fight the continual waves of criticism and will be renaming them to ‘Opposing Force’.

Executive producer Greg Goodrich expressed that the change was made out of respect for the relatives of soldiers killed in action, however it has to be questioned if the mass of negative publicity that has arisen was the real cause for change.

Whilst it is understandable that such references can be upsetting to those that have lost loved ones in recent wars I can’t help but feel that the video games industry (once again) has been over judged, resulting in immersion and realism having to take a hit where similar situations in film would be completely ignored.
