2K Sports, the publisher of NBA 2K7, announced Wednesday morning that Shaquille O’Neal will remain as their coverboy and spokesmon for yet another edition. This safe move (similar to keeping Derek Jeter as their face for MLB 2k6) will add to the huge publicity that Shaq is already happily tending to.
“Shaq is well-known for his fun-loving nature, great work ethic, and incredible athletic skills. His dominating game and winning attitude make him the central figure on every team he is a part of, including 2K Sports,” said Erik Whiteford of 2K Sports. “”We’re very pleased to be working with Shaq again with NBA 2K7.”
“You only get to represent the best by playing with the best,” said the Big Guy. “NBA 2K7 is the game for champions and I’m proud to be a part of the best basketball game anywhere.”
Shaq’s recent image has been given a lift up after helping lead the Miami Heat to their first ever NBA Championship. This was Shaq’s 3rd NBA title; his two previous being back to back wins with the Los Angeles Lakers. Shaq is scheduled to reunite with ex-teammate Kobe Bryant this Christmas day. But til’ then we will be more than delighted to simulate the match on 2k’s newest edition of their NBA brand.
NBA 2k6 is scheduled to be released for Xbox 360 sometime in September.
