We all knew it was coming, we had news a few weeks back of further store closures. As if to finish of what little hope anyone had of the DVD rental firm staying open, it’s now been confirmed by administrators that come close of play on December 15th all Blockbuster stores will be closing for the final time.
In total 91 stores will be shutting shop bringing an end to the companies reign which started back in 1985.
“It is with regret that we have to make today’s announcement, we appreciate this is a difficult time for all concerned and would like to thank staff for their professionalism and support over the past month,” administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O’Reilly toldBBC News.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a buyer for the group as a going concern and as a result had to take the regrettable action to close the remaining stores.”
For any last minute Christmas presents why not go down to Blockbuster who will be selling stock with a 90% discount before Sundays deadline.
