Gearbox’s forthcoming furturistic sci-fi shooter Borderlands is to require a HDD on Xbox 360. It comes just a week after Microsoft announced it would be allowing future Xbox 360 MMO’s to require a HDD. But Borderlands isn’t an MMO, so why should it require a HDD?
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told 1UP:
“If it weren’t for where the 360 and the PS3 have gone, with big hard drives, and lots of memory, and powerful processors, there’s no way you can conceive of this as a console game. I don’t know if [Microsoft is] gonna complain about that, and I don’t want to be in the middle of a controversy there, but you need space”
Borderlands is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 in late 2008.
