Excited gamers will have to wait a little while longer for returning to Rapture as Bioshock 2 gets delayed till 2010. The game will be pushed back to fiscal year 2010 which begins in November of this year, although sources claim it will be unlikely for the title to release before January.

Geoff Keighley has stated via Twitter : “BioShock 2 has been delayed…” The game originally looked destined for a Halloween weekend release.No new official date has been announced.Ben Feder, Take Two CEO, explains the situation;

The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2. We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve. As a result, we will now be launching sequels to several of our strongest franchises – including BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption – during the next fiscal year. These titles will anchor our lineup for fiscal 2010, and along with other products planned for next year, provide a platform for enhanced financial performance in what we hope will be an improved retail environment.

Well at least your holiday won’t be as expensive this year but a lot of people were looking forward to the release of Bioshock 2. As always let us know in the comments how you feel about waiting another couple of months.
