Beautiful Katamari Confirmed for 360 and PS3

Namco Bandai have finally confirmed reports that Beautiful Katamari is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3, however, a Wii version was not confirmed.

The first next-gen game in the franchise will feature high definition graphics (720p), a brand spanking new soundtrack and online multiplayer for the first time. Namco Bandai also promise that downloadable content will be released for the game “long after the game has launched”.

Beautiful Katamari will feature a similar storyline to the original 2004 PS2 game, which was well recieved by critics. In the game the King of All Cosmos has messed up the entire world and it’s you, the diminutive Prince, to sort it out.

You basically have a ball which you use to pick things up which are smaller than the ball. As your ball picks more things up, it obviously gets bigger and therefore, you can pick up even bigger items. It’s a very simple idea which has turned into a cult hit.

Beautiful Katamari will be released towards the end of 2007.
