Microsoft bigwig Steve Ballmer has recently hinted that the Xbox 360 could see a price cut in the coming future in order to have a more compelling competitive edge.
Ballmer mentioned to analysts:
“The price of sale versus the cost of sale of Xbox, we are going to be smart about that. We’re going to be competitive in the marketplace, but we’re also going to be smart on trying to get the best gross margin through to the bottom line that we can, if I could say it that way, as it relates to Xbox”
Meaning that a price cut, if to happen, would also be done in such a way so that the sale price of the system still results in a profitable turnover for Microsoft.
The Microsoft CEO then went on to comment on how other consoles have seen a price cut early in there life:
“I don’t know whether we’ll have a price decrease in the first few years, and I don’t want to comment on that, but I will highlight for you that every console has had a price decrease in the first few years”
Make of it what you will, but the man at the top has been dropping hints…what price would you see as ideal?
