DICE is doing it’s upmost to make Battlefield 3 the definitive shooter on all consoles and that starts with it having a 24 player limit on it’s multiplayer maps as stated by brand manager Kevin O’Leary.
“We’re an all-platform developer, to be honest,” he said, when asked whether anything set the PC and console versions apart. “We want to make sure that every platform that we have the game out on, it’s the best possible experience for that platform.
“On console we’ve made the decision to go 24 players on multiplayer because it’s the sweet spot. We’ve seen from telemetry and testing and so forth – that’s what we know works well for our consumers and our players.”
For those that remember Battlefield 2: Bad Company was also 24 players online and that was one of the positives of picking it over Black Ops. With stiff competition from Modern Warfare 3 DICE are hoping that 24 player mini-wars will tempt gamers away from MW3 and onto BF3.
