Sporting Ricky “the hitman” Hatton on the cover and a whole host of realistic boxing gameplay, Fight Night Round 3 is pretty much racked up to pack a huge punch when the game gets launched on the 360 some time next year.

Fight Night Round 3 was one of the only games to be shown running on an actual PS3 spec machine. The demo of which featured two imaginary boxers, were shown impressively bobbing around the stage, throwing and blocking various punches along the way. What was shown that day was some very fluid animation, and it’s exactly what we can expect from the XBOX 360 version.

What was most interesting about the footage shown, was the use of lighting which seemed to bounce picture perfectly off the boxers skin, and also the way in which the game rendered facial expressions. Facial expressions were promised as one of the step ups from XBOX to XBOX 360 and Fight Night Round 3 intends to make absolutely full use of the functionality. The boxers jaw clenches as they are about to throw a particularly powerful punch, and the eyes squint in pain when a hard punch has just been landed.

The game will feature all the favourites from the Fight Night series, and while EA are yet to confirm this we can assume there will be some kind of career mode and an online multiplayer mode in which gamers can challenge each other from across the globe using the 360’s built-in Live function.

On offer will be a host of famous boxers to choose from, each varying from their own boxing class, from Ricky Hatton to Mike Tyson.

While little is known about this game in the early development stage we can conclude that if the game play is equal to the graphics, it will pack a blow that even Muhammad Ali would be proud of.
