Microsoft’s latest edition to the Xbox Live community has finally arrived today in the shape of Game Room. In game room, Xbox Live members will be able to wonder around a virtual arcade and play on arcade games and legacy console titles of yesteryear, albeit at a price of 240-400 MSPs.
Initial releases include Adventure, Asteroids Deluxe, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Combat, Tempest, Scramble, Super Cobra and Yar’s Revenge.
Unfortunately the launch has started with a fizzle rather than a bang. Users are reporting the Game Room freezing during the initial load, being unable to connect to the servers behind the scenes. Disconnecting from Live once downloaded will allow off-line browsing of the demo versions, but retro fans will be unable to purchase items within the arcade.
Microsoft is currently looking at the problem and hopes to have a fix out soon.
Will you be making any purchases in the Game Room once the problems are sorted? Let us know in the comments.
