Wii Software service on the way.

Nintendo have recently revealed at a private developers conference that ‘Wii Software’, a game creation service is coming for game developers. The service will allows large or small development groups to create new original games. These games will then be available to consumers for download via the Wii Shop Channel. According to Nintendo the first new titles created from the service will launch in early 2008.

European Marketing Director Laurent Fischer said:

“Wii Software provides developers with big ideas, rather than big budgets, an easy and very accessible way to create new games and bring them to the marketplace, as well as offering great additional value for Wii owners who will be able to download fresh new games.”

The games will be obtainable with Wii Points, the Wii’s virtual currency. No details on whether a hard drive to store several of these games has been announced yet, but there is always E3!

What are your thoughts on this move into original downloads on Wii? And is it coming to late?
