Wii sells more than Gamecube in Japan

This week the Wii console from Nintendo passed the Gamecube in terms of lifetime sales in Japan. In only 54 short weeks the Wii has sold more than the Gamecube ever did in the land of the rising sun.

The Wii has now sold over 4 million units in Japan alone, all the more impressive is the fact that this feat was achieved in just over a year.

This news not only makes the Gamecube’s lifetime sales all the more depressing, but bodes well for the future of Nintendo’s box of tricks.
