Update: New Gears of War Mode Detailed

Epic Games have revealed the first details about the newest multiplayer game mode for Gears of War. Called Annex, the mode involves players battling for a number of locations on the map, once you take control of the location, you get a number of points (to a maxium of 60). The host can select the winning score from 120 to 480 points as well as the usual options available.

There will be a few locations on the map to try and claim, however, you will only be fighting for one at any given time. Once the location has been claimed, a new randomly selected location will become available.

Annex is also the first Gears mode to feature respawns. Instead of the round being over for you when you hit the ground, you will rejoin the game within 15 seconds.

The patch which comes with Annex included will also fix a number of bugs within the game. Originally the patch was said to release on April 9th, however Microsoft have since stated that a release date has not been determined.

Update: The update for Gears of War which includes Annex is now available. As with all Xbox 360 Auto-Updates, simply boot up the game and you’ll be prompted to download.
