Ubisoft to ditch the paper instruction manual

Nowadays it’s more legal jargon than in game help, but in a move which is to cause horror to old skool gamers Ubisoft are to ditch the paper instruction manual’s in future games and instead replace it with in game digital manuals.

Speaking to Kotaku, Ubisoft’s North American president Laurent Detoc explains;

“Ubisoft is often recognised for making great games, but it’s a special privilege to be the industry leader at saving trees,”

“Eco-friendly initiatives are important to the global community and introducing in-game digital manuals on Xbox 360 and PS3 is just the latest example of Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to being a more environmentally conscious company.”

The first game to receive this treatment will be Shaun White Skateboarding which releases this Autumn.

I think it’s a great idea as I barely use the manual anyway however I sympathise with gamers who will no longer be able to have the manual at their side. Do you ever use the manual? Discuss below!
