A CNET source working with Microsoft has today claimed that the next generation Xbox 720 will be released in 2013.
Along with this news there has been a number of personnel movements inside Microsoft. Emma Williams, who designed the new 360 dashboard, has taken over from General Entertainment Manager Dan Coyner who has also taken on a new role within the company.
As always Microsoft remain tight lipped about a successor to the Xbox 360 and wouldn’t even comment on the changes in personnel.
Despite Microsofts plans to make the 360 last an entire decade Chris Lewis, Microsoft Europe Xbox Boss, revealed that doesn’t mean the company wouldn’t release the 720 within said decade. He was even quoted as saying;
“We think we’re a little over halfway with the life cycle of the console, but that’s not to say there won’t be an overlap. I’m not going to announce specifically or talk about timing. But you could imagine there could be overlap, it depends. We’re not being specific about the next generation at this stage.”
Keep your eyes peeled in January 2012 as Microsoft are rumoured to be making their first official Xbox 720 announcements at the CES expo.
