The Nielsen Company have made a few calculations and released some figures regarding the most played video game consoles of 2008. What you are about to read, may come as quite a surprise:
31.2% – PlayStation 2
17.2% – Xbox 360
13.4% – Nintendo Wii
9.7% – Xbox
7.3% – PlayStation 3
4.6% – GameCube
16.2% – “Other” (consists of any other console systems found in the home)
The ‘2’ was not a typo; it is indeed the PlayStation 2 that was victorious in the console war last year. The figures were based on console usage in minutes, calculated using a select few Nielsen households and represent the United States only.
