Tetris dropping on to PSN next month

It could be argued that one area the PlayStation is lagging behind its rivals is in the small and cheap downloadable game stakes. What better way to stoke the fires then, than to put one of the all-time classic puzzle games, Tetris, on to the PSN Store.

EA are releasing this pile-em-up and knock-em-down title with both single and multiplayer modes, such as “Shared” that allows a two-player team to combine efforts and clear lines together, and of course the classic “Marathon” single player experience, this time in high-definition and surround sound.

“This is Tetris made for a big screen,” said Alexey Pajitnov, creator of the Tetris game. “We’re very excited to bring Tetris to PlayStation Network with new game modes offering different and fun new ways to play. With high-definition graphics and surround sound, this Tetris game is a full experience. We’re thrilled to bring this unique game to longtime fans and new players. We hope everyone shows it off in their home ‘theaters!’”

Being already available on nearly every platform known to man, chances are you already have a copy somewhere in your library, but will you make the jump to the PSN version? Let us know in the comments.

Marty Greenwell

Marty has been gaming since the heady years of the ZX-81 and still owns most of the gaming systems purchased since those days, including the Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum, SNES, Jaguar, Dreamcast and GameCube. Being a collection junkie (or more accurately, hoarder), he buys more games than he can possibly play, far too many of which are still sealed in their packaging. Marty favours RPGs and Driving games when it comes to genres, and is possibly a little bit too addicted to Disgaea. When not gaming he’s out frightening OAPs on his motorcycle, clad in black leather.
