Sony has just announced Payday: The Heist, a brand new cop-op shooter for the PC and PlayStation Network.

Developed by Swedish developer Overkill Software, the downloadable shooter puts you into the shoes of a seasoned criminal, going about his daily business.

According to the developer, the game features six high-stakes heists, including bank robberies, prisoner extractions and armored car hijackings. Since it’s a squad-based shooter, you’ll also have three partners at your constant beckon call, controllable either by friends or A.I.

The game features three different class types, including assault, sharpshooter or support. And you’ll also be able to level up your abilities and acquire new weapons along the course of the game.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Overkill CEO Bo Andersson promised “Dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows and special units crawling through the ventilation shafts”.

No release date has been set at present, but you can expect a full-reveal at E3 in the coming days.
