Sony holds its head high at Gamescom awards

Sony and Polyphony Digital must be in a celebratory mood today after it was announced they walked away with the “Best of Gamescom” award for Gran Turismo 5 in the recent 2010 show.

To further bolster their spirits, and bloody the nose of Microsoft, Sony also strode off with the trophy for “Best Hardware Accessory” for their soon to be released Move offering, beating Kinect, Cyborg R.A.T. 7 and Rockband 3.

The full list of awards is as follows:

Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH), category “Best of gamescom”
PlayStation Move (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH), category “Hardware accessories”
Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH), category “Console games”
Super Scribblenauts (Warner Bros. Games), category “Mobile games”
Guild Wars 2 (NCsoft West), category “Online games”
Crysis 2 (Crytek GmbH), category “PC games”
Kirby’s Epic Yarn (Nintendo of Europe GmbH), category “Best of Family Entertainment”

Marty Greenwell

Marty has been gaming since the heady years of the ZX-81 and still owns most of the gaming systems purchased since those days, including the Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum, SNES, Jaguar, Dreamcast and GameCube. Being a collection junkie (or more accurately, hoarder), he buys more games than he can possibly play, far too many of which are still sealed in their packaging. Marty favours RPGs and Driving games when it comes to genres, and is possibly a little bit too addicted to Disgaea. When not gaming he’s out frightening OAPs on his motorcycle, clad in black leather.
