Sonic & Knuckles set to release this Wednesday

Graeme Boyd, better known as AceyBongos, has confirmed via his Twitter feed that Sonic & Knuckles will be this week’s Xbox Live Arcade release. The game’s description is as follows:

The blue hedgehog and the red echidna were sworn adversaries in Sonic 3, but in the platform adventure Sonic & Knuckles, Knuckles realizes that he’s been just a pawn in the schemes of Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik). Knuckles, the former adversary, now supports Sonic to chase the common enemy, and each must use their strengths to acquire the priceless Master Emerald and save Angel Island.

Originally released for the Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis, the re-make is set to feature HD support, online leaderboards and network play. The game’s achievements were revealed back in July.

Sonic & Knuckles will be available to download from the Xbox Live Arcade as of this Wednesday (9th September) for the cheap price of 400 Microsoft Points.
