What’s strange about Silent Hill: Homecoming is the fact it has been out in North America since the 30th September 2008 and Konami have yet to provide a reason for this delay. One of the possible reasons for the delay is that Konami weren’t happy with the reception of the review scores they were receiving. Obtaining a metascore of 72%, the game seemed to get fairly mixed reviews.
Another reason could be the translation of the game. As Europe consists of many different languages, Konami may have only had time to translate the title into a few languages before the intended pre-Christmas release. Either way, European Silent Hill fans will be disappointed by this delay.
With the game releasing in America, the full details of the story are known. Silent Hill: Homecoming puts players into role of the game’s protagonist: Alex Shepherd, a wounded in combat soldier – recently released from hospital, who returns to his hometown to find the residents, including his younger brother, missing. Alex soon discovers weird happenings in the neighbouring town of Silent Hill. It’s also worth mentioning the game will not contain online play.
We revealed the achievements back in August which showed us images of some of the creatures we’d encounter within the game, including the likes of nurses and lurkers. The list also revealed the game would contain collectibles Serums and Children’s Drawings.
Whilst Konami didn’t reveal why the delay came about, they did state that Silent Hill: Homecoming will be released in February (most likely the 27th). Stay tuned to Console Monster for more details.
