PS3 70 percent cheaper to make

A Sony CEO has revealed that the cost of making the PS3 has dropped by a staggering 70 per cent since it was first designed.

Nobuyuki Oneda told the audience during a conference call reported by TVG.

“The cost reduction since we introduced the PS3 is very substantial and this is on schedule,”

“We don’t disclose how much of the PlayStation 3, specifically the cost deduction, was achieved during the past two years. But that is on schedule.”

When probed further, Oneda revealed the 70 per cent figure.

However when first released, the PS3 was making a loss for the company despite having never revealed its true manufacture costs. Is a price cut due to take place before Christmas? We hope so, and we’ll keep you updated if one does happen.
