Activision have announced that when the Xbox 360 version of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground launches on October 9th (in the US), it’ll include a demo of Guitar Hero III. This will be followed two weeks later by the same demo releasing on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane, said:
“Music is such a huge part of skateboarding culture and pairing the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo with Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground makes perfect sense. We’re excited to bring together two highly anticipated games and give fans their first chance to rock out with the franchise that’s taken the world by storm.”
The demo will include five tracks that you’ll be able to try out in the Desert Rock Tour venue. The tracks included are:
- Lay Down (by Priestess)
- Even Flow (by Pearl Jam)
- The Metal (by Tenacious D)
- Hit Me with your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benatar)
- Rock You like a Hurricane (as made famous by Scorpions)
Quite how you’re supposed to play a demo which requires a peripheral to play is beyond me (unless you own Guitar Hero II of course). It also begs the question of where this leaves Europe. Proving Ground isn’t expected to launch in Europe until November meaning the demo will launch before the game in Europe. Are we going to be treated fairly for a change and get the demo at the same time as the US or will we have to wait as per usual (have a guess what my bet’s on?)
