Xbox One gamers who are looking forward to picking up indie games at launch will be fairly annoyed to hear that in a recent interview with Games Industry Biz, Phil Harrison mentions that he thinks Microsoft will not fill its library of Indie titles until early 2014.
“Bringing it back to the original question – when are we going to see the indie products released on Xbox One?
Phil Harrison: I don’t think we’re going to see things at launch. I don’t think it’s realistic to see a developer get the programme and build a game and get it into the market on November 22. It’s reasonable to expect in early 2014 we’ll start seeing the first games come through.”
This moves the PS4 into the console of choice for gamers seeking the latest Indie games. However I am sure Harrison is talking about developers picking up the console post lunch and the time it will take them to publish their games post launch, and not the suite of Indie-based games that are currently already under product and will appear on its Xbox Game Store service this year.
