Nintendo holding back Wii stock – Gamestop

US retailer Gamestop have accused Nintendo of intentionally holding back Wii units in order to make the company’s Q1 performance look better. Gamestop COO Dan DeMatteo said:
“This is just my opinion – I think they intentionally dried up supply because they made their numbers for the year. Their new year starts April 1 and I think we’re going to see supply flowing.”

It comes shortly after rumours broke that the Wal-Mart electronics department in Fairfax, VA was holding Wii units until April 1st. Of course, rumours with the date “April 1st” should always be taken with a pinch of salt.
