It was heavily-implied at the end of the Green Day: Rock Band demo but now the strongest evidence yet has come to light. Keyboards are officially coming to Rock Band 3 it has been confirmed by an article on USA Today.
The article discusses that “during the game, green, red, blue, yellow or orange keys flow on a “stream” representing the notes to be played on five corresponding keyboard keys.” It has also been confirmed that the keyboard works as a MIDI keyboard that can be connected to a computer. Talking to Alex Rigopulos, CEO of Harmonix, he stated: “With the introduction of keyboards, we get to bring a ton of amazing new music onto the platform, which will help feed the appetite for music for years to come.”
Rigopulos also revealed further new details about the game including a new authentic Pro mode. The mode would allow players to play their plastic instruments as if they were actual instruments which, in the case of the keyboard, would mean using its 25 keys. Additional instruments will be available upon the game’s release with Harmonix releasing two advanced guitar controllers that will take advantage of the Pro mode, one of which is a full-sized, fully functional Fender guitar. It is not yet known how much the new guitar controllers will cost.
Finally, the first song details have also been revealed with Rigopulos revealing that the game would feature 83 new songs including: The Doors’ Break On and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
With E3 approaching very quickly, expect to be hearing new Rock Band 3 details very soon.
