Microsoft’s fledgling fighter entered the next generation ring way back in late 2005 and, while it’s had its ups and downs, the Xbox 360 appears to have completed its metamorphosis into both the seasoned hardnut of the gaming world and an impressive money-spinner for the big MS.
Microsoft today announced that sales of their console have surpassed 30 million, an incredible milestone, and the apparently helium-filled subscribing LIVE community ballooning and soaring to dizzying heights with a count of 20 million active members. Last year was proclaimed the ‘Year of the Xbox’, with the machine seeing its biggest year to date, but so far in 2009, the 360’s sales have swelled a massive 28% over last year, making it the bearer of the fastest growing hardware sales.
While not directly affecting Xbox 360 users, this may come as further reassurance for their console choice and will add a few extra metres to the deep, deep pockets of Microsoft, hopefully encouraging them to delve that little bit deeper and invest some dollar in some features for European Xbox-ers.
