Modern Warfare 2 street date broken

The worlds most anticipated game ever, quite possibly, is to launch at one minute past midnight tonight.

However some retailers have broken the street date in usual fashion with American retailer GameStop breaking the street date “in select markets”.

Corporate communication for GameStop, Chris Olivera, told Kotaku:

“Our decision followed many conversations with Activision and was an effort to protect our customer base.”

Of course some GameStop stores are in the UK, but we’ve had no confirmation if they broke the street date as of yet.

Meanwhile, The Hut and Lovefilm did admit to breaking the street date after dispatching by 1st Class Royal Mail on Thursday after they were advised to with the impending postal strikes. This was then cancelled, with most retailers opting for a courier service instead for the game.

There is a slight buzz about the country right now, and from 12.01am, most GAME, Gamestation and select HMV stores will open for the occasion.
