Microsoft unveil Xbox 360’s answer to LittleBigPlanet

LittleBigPlanet is due for release very soon in Europe on PlayStation 3 but it seems Microsoft is jumping on the same band wagon. Gamastura reports that at Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference hosted in Los Angeles last week, project Boku was unveiled by Microsoft Research.

Project Boku is an icon-based tool which looks set to give users the ability to create their own games using the Xbox 360 controller. Some of the features the game will include are: an interactive terrain editor; bridge and path builder; terrain editor; built-in sharing and rating.

According to Microsoft’s project page, the game will be “designed to be accessible for children and enjoyable for anyone.” Looking at the screenshots and the video embedded below, Boku could prove to be the Xbox 360’s answer to LittleBigPlanet. Boku is set to release sometime next year.
