Microsoft Points to be phased out by the end of the year

Microsoft Points could soon be a thing of the past, a new report has suggested.

According to Inside Mobile Apps, the virtual currency system “will be phased out by the end of the year” to be replaced with real money. It is said to “affect developers for Windows Phone, the Zune marketplace and Xbox Live.

The report came from “a source with knowledge of the company’s decision.” However, Microsoft have responded saying: “We do not comment on rumours or speculation.
